Announcing Video Auditions for
Dreams Reimagined - A Miscast Cabaret
Performance Dates: Friday, February 27 & Saturday, February 28, 2026 @ The Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton.
Have you ever dreamed of performing that role you’d never be cast in? Now’s your chance! Dreams Reimagined is a bold and heartfelt evening of theater where the usual rules don’t apply. Gender? Age? Type? Forget it. If it inspires you, we want to see it.
We are looking for an ensemble cast of 10-15 to perform multiple pieces (solos, scenes, duets, dance, and groups) that showcase roles they’ve always dreamed of doing, no matter how “miscast” they may seem. You will audition to be part of the ensemble, but are welcome to audition with a song you think you could perform. .

WHAT TO SUBMIT: Please submit your video via this GoogleForm. If you have difficulty submitting your video , please send a link to your video in a GoogleDrive Folder to auditions.tvtc@gmail.com.
Feel free to include multiple submissions, as you can be considered for multiple pieces within the show.
*If you have prepared a duet or group piece, please have all performers submit an audition form.*
All races, ethnic backgrounds, and genders are encouraged to audition. All roles open, Non AEA. Tri-Valley Theatre Company is a volunteer company, and no pay is offered to performers in this production.
Cast List will be sent out by December 20th
Song Ideas & Examples:
Option 1: Miscast (goes against, gender, age, type, etc.)
“I’m Not That Girl” – Wicked (sung by a male-identifying performer)
“Being Alive” – Company (originally sung by a male, powerful if sung by a woman)
“You’ll Be Back” – Hamilton (played by a child or non-traditional King George)
“Agony” – Into the Woods (sung by women as the princes)
“Memory” – Cats (performed by a teen or young child with drama)
"16 Going on 17" - sung by anyone who clearly isn't :)
Option 2: Fully Re-imagined (put in a new context/scene):
"Iowa Stubborn" as a Cabaret Song COLE ESCOLA, "Iowa Stubborn" — MCC MISCAST25
"I Feel Pretty" from West Side Story as a self-centered villain
"What Baking Can Do" from Waitress, but as Mrs. Lovett
Performance Selection Guidelines for "Dreams Reimagined":
We're so excited to see your creativity and talent in this year's Dreams Reimagined performance! This is a chance to step outside the box and be creative!
However, while we celebrate freedom of expression and imaginative casting, it's critical that all performances are respectful and inclusive of all communities. With that in mind, please follow these guidelines when selecting your piece.
✅ Yes to:
-Gender-bending or age-swapping roles
-Playing roles in a different genre or style
-Bold artistic choices that challenge societal norms — while uplifting others
-Creating new interpretations of roles & performances
🚫 Avoid:
-Using accents, costumes, or mannerisms that stereotype or mock racial, ethnic, or cultural groups
-Performing songs or scenes that reinforce harmful tropes or marginalize LGBTQ+ individuals or communities of color
-Any performance that could come across as offensively parodying rather than honoring the original performer or character
